AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed that the club tried to sign Roma legend Francesco Totti when he was a youngster.

The 38-year-old, who is product of Roma’s youth system, has achieved cult status amongst the Giallorossi faithful for his love for the club.

Totti has spent 22 seasons with Roma, his only professional club, since making his first team debut in March 1993.

And Galliani explained that even when Totti was a youngster, it was impossible to convince the forward to leave the capital club.

"We tried to sign Totti when he was young, but it didn’t work out”, he was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur.
