Bolton Wanderers are pondering over offering former Chelsea forward Eidur Gudjohnsen a new contract, manager Neil Lennon has revealed.

The 36-year-old, a former Bolton player, has been training with the club following his departure from Belgian giants Club Brugge.

Gudjohnsen is on the lookout for a new club as he looks to clock up playing time in a bid to force his way back into the Iceland squad.

And Lennon says Bolton are taking a close look at the ex-Barcelona man to decide whether to offer him a deal.

"He asked us would we take him in and have a good look at him, so that's what we're doing at the minute", Lennon told BBC Radio 5 live.

"He's always been a class player. You don't play for Barcelona for three or four seasons without being a really good player."

Gudjohnsen turned out for Bolton between 1998 and 2000 before moving on to Chelsea, where he spent six years.
