Former England and Tottenham Hotspur captain Alan Mullery has been impressed by Ryan Mason’s performances for Spurs this season.

The 23-year-old midfielder came under the spotlight with a goal for the club in a League Cup game against Nottingham Forest in September.

He made his Premier League debut against Arsenal in the north London derby earlier this season and has started all of Tottenham’s last six league fixtures.

Schooled in Tottenham’s academy, the Englishman has made an impression this season and the former Spurs captain believes that Mason has got all the talent required to succeed at the top level.

The former England skipper believes that the 23-year-old has the ability to dominate the middle of the park with his drive and determination and he would love to see how the midfielder maintains his consistency over the course of the season.

"I've been very impressed”, Mullery told the club’s official site.

“When I look at him he’s not the biggest but he’s got all the touch, control and ability and you can see that in the matches he’s played so far.

“He doesn’t hide and that shows the hunger he's got to go out and play.

“I’d like to see him dominate even more in there with that talent, he’s is relatively young still but go out and do it, have a go.

"He’s done well and I'd love to see him maintain it for the rest of the season.”
