Arsenal and AC Milan have been handed a boost after Bayern Munich denied claims in Spain that Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has already agreed a pre-contractual deal to join the club next summer.

Khedira has less than a year to run on his contract at the Bernabeu and will be free to pen a pre-contract from 1st January, if he chooses to leave the European champions.

It has been claimed in Spain that the Germany international has agreed to move back to his homeland with Bayern Munich, news which would be a blow to long-time suitors Arsenal and AC Milan.

But Bayern Munich have denied having an agreement in place with the former Stuttgart schemer.

Club spokesman Markus Horwick said: "There is no truth [in the report]."

The Bavarians' words mean all is still to play for in the race for Khedira, a man Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted he would like to keep.

"The club wants him to sign a contract extension", Ancelotti explained on Spanish radio station RNE.

"We consider him a reliable player, who is serious and professional."

However, Khedira has seen his playing time at the Bernabeu suffer, with countryman Toni Kroos carving out a regular spot alongside Luka Modric in the heart of the midfield.

An injury to Modric though, with the Croatian midfielder out until February with a thigh niggle, is likely to hand Khedira a chance to impress.
