West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that Diafra Sakho and Stewart Downing are doubtful for his side’s Premier League contest against Everton on Saturday.

Sakho, who has scored seven goals in nine appearances for the Hammers since joining the club from Metz is suffering from a back problem.

The injury forced the striker to miss Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations 2015 qualifier against Botswana on Wednesday.

And Allardyce explained that Sakho, who suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the month, could miss the clash against the Toffees at Goodison Park.

"We don't know if Sakho will be ok for Everton yet”, the manager said at a press conference.

“He will be assessed today but we will wait until Saturday morning if need be."

Allardyce further insisted that Downing, who picked up a knee injury while on international duty with England, will also be assessed before the weekend’s clash.

However, the manager was quick to add that he is unwilling to rush back the two players in fear of losing the duo for a longer time.

"Stewart came off with a knee problem in the England game too so we need to assess that as well”, he continued.

“You need to be very careful when you have a fixture list coming up like we have and you don't want to lose them for two or three weeks."
