Arsene Wenger believes for Arsenal and Manchester United to be sitting outside the Premier League's top four at present is "unusual".

However, the Arsenal boss, whose side lock horns with Louis van Gaal's Manchester United tomorrow at the Emirates Stadium, does not believe the situation will persist for too much longer.

At present Arsenal find themselves sixth in the standings, while Manchester United are seventh.

The pair are aiming for Champions League football and Wenger believes both clubs will soon be back amongst the Premier League's upper echelons.

"It’s unusual but I’m sure that won’t last", he said via his club's site.
