Italian side Atalanta have admitted defeat in their bid to sign HNK Rijeka striker Andrej Kramaric, someone they are convinced is joining Chelsea.

Atalanta have been on the tail of the 23-year-old for some time, but have been forced to concede they are unlikely to be able to tempt the Dinamo Zagreb youth product to Italy.

"We've followed Kramaric for a long time", Atalanta director Pierpaolo Marino admitted to Corriere dello Sport.

"But I think he is about to sign a contract with Chelsea", the Italian added.

Kramaric has long been tipped for the top and has represented Croatia at Under-14 level through to the Under-21s.

He made his debut for the country's senior team earlier this year and has already found the back of the net.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will wrap up his arrival in the January transfer window and whether they choose to keep Kramaric at Stamford Bridge or send him out on loan.
