Leeds United are handling the search for an assistant to boss Neil Redfearn in a professional way, the head coach himself has insisted.

Redfearn recently took charge at Elland Road on a permanent basis, but is working without an assistant, meaning the load on his shoulders is high.

It is taking time for Leeds to secure Redfearn's assistant, who is under contract at another club. But the former midfielder has no complaints over the process that is ongoing.

"The club are dealing with it and they've dealt with it really well", Redfearn told LUTV.

"We've shown respect to the club that my potential assistant is at and I think that is important.

"We've got to do things properly.

"If you've got somebody who is under contract at a club then these things are going to take time.

"I've left it to the club and concentrated on the training in the week", Redfearn added.

Redfearn's target for assistant is thought to be Steve Thompson, first team coach at Huddersfield.
