Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has wished Yaya Toure luck after the Ivory Coast midfielder's national team qualified for next year's African Cup of Nations.

Les Elephants held Cameroon to a goalless draw to progress through to the final stage of the tournament, to be held in Equatorial Guinea next year.

Toure's Manchester City manager believes that it is an important achievement for his player, insisting that he is happy for him.

Participation in the tournament means that the Premier League champions are going to miss Toure in January, but Pellegrini doesn't want to think too much about that, adding that he will make alternative plans in December.

"It was very important for Yaya to qualify for the African Cup of Nations and I am very happy for him", Pellegrini said at a pre-match press conference.

"Of course we will miss Yaya in January, but we will decide how we cover his absence in December."

The Chilean manager's team, who are currently placed third in the Premier League table, will host Garry Monk's Swansea City this weekend.
