Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli has insisted that he places little importance on other people’s opinions about him.

The Italian international has been going through a lean phase since joining Liverpool this summer from AC Milan for £16m.

He has scored just twice this season and has so far failed to hit the back of the net in the Premier League. Questions are now being raised over Brendan Rodgers’ decision to bring him to Anfield.

And the Italian national team manager Antonio Conte is also not a big fan of the mercurial former AC Milan striker. He even said earlier this week that he doesn’t have time for Balotelli’s antics.

The striker remains unfazed on the face of severe criticism though and said that he is not too bothered about people’s opinions as long as he has faith in his own abilities.

“I don’t need people to believe in me so long as I believe in myself”, the Italian told Fox Sports Australia.

“The important people for me are my family and my few close friends.”

Balotelli is yet to wear the Azzurri colours since the appointment of Conte this summer.
