Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio has expressed his delight at returning to international duty with Argentina after three long years.

The Tottenham player was drafted into the team that played Croatia on 13th November, a game which his team won 2-1 at Upton Park.

The 27-year-old was also on the bench for his country's match against Portugal at Old Trafford on Tuesday, which they subsequently lost 1-0.

It was in fact Fazio's third match for the national team, with his last two appearances coming back in June 2011, making the occasion even more special.

And the former Sevilla player is visibly delighted with the entire experience.

“I’m very happy to be back with the national team, three years after the last time”, Fazio told his Tottenham's official site.

“I’m proud to get a chance to represent my country.

"There are a lot of players in Argentina and from all the clubs in the top leagues around the world who are eligible for the national team, meaning we have competition for places in all the positions.

"So it made me proud and happy to play and I want to stay in the picture for the next matches."

Fazio has so far played eight matches for the Lilywhites this season, having provided his team-mates with a lone assist.
