Lionel Messi has become La Liga's all-time top goalscorer, smashing his way through the record against Sevilla at the Camp Nou tonight.

Messi opened the scoring in the 21st minute in the clash, before a Jordi Alba own goal just after half time restored parity.

Neymar put Barcelona back ahead only two minutes later, while Ivan Rakitic then scored Barcelona's third in the 65th minute.

But Messi was not in the mood to wait to break the record and did it in the 71st minute, before following that up with another seven minutes later.

Messi had a hat-trick in the match and a total of 253 La Liga goals to his name.
