Arsene Wenger feels his side completely dominated their match against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, something which leaves him hugely frustrated at going down to a 2-1 defeat.

Arsenal were largely dominant in the first half, putting Manchester United under pressure. However, they could not find a breakthrough and both teams headed in locked at 0-0 at half time.

Manchester United continued to look threatening on the break and scored, with the help of some fortune, after Kieran Gibbs deflected the ball into his own goal in the 56th minute.

The tempo soon stepped up a notch, as Arsenal flooded forward in search of an equaliser.

Wenger brought on striker Olivier Giroud, just back from injury, as the Gunners looked for a goal.

Manchester United took advantage, hitting Arsenal on the break, and seeing Angel di Maria play in Wayne Rooney for the Red Devils' second.

With eight minutes injury time added on, Giroud did score, hitting a neat long-range shot, but Arsenal still went down 2-1.

And Wenger, who knows his side enjoyed much more possession and touches in the opposition half, is sore over his side earning nothing from the match.

"It was one-way traffic and we lost the game, we have to take it on the chin. I know we'll be criticised for it but you have to respect the energy levels we put in", he told the BBC.

"We paid for the slightest mistake and it's very frustrating to come away with nothing.

"We had the best chances and we could have finished better. At 1-0 we should have been more cautious not to give the second goal away. There was plenty of time to come back and that's where we made the mistake.

"In our job when you don't win, you're very concerned, but there are a lot of positives in this team. If we can keep this going with the quality and the energy levels we have, we can bounce back very quickly."
