Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak has saluted his side's "first class" performance against Liverpool this afternoon, after they put the Reds to the sword by winning 3-1.

Liverpool included Rickie Lambert from the start, with Mario Balotelli out with a groin injury he picked up on international duty.

And they reaped an instant reward, with Lambert scoring after just two minutes to put the Reds ahead.

But Dwight Gayle put Palace level in the 17th minute, with Liverpool's defence struggling against the pace of the Palace attack.

Joe Ledley then put the hosts 2-1 up in the 78th minute, before Jedinak bagged another three minutes later, all but killing off Liverpool.

Liverpool have now lost their last four games in a row, while Palace will hope the victory represents the start of a winning run.

And Jedinak was understandably delighted, telling Sky Sports: "It's massive. We needed that big time.

"We knew it was going to be a difficult game, it didn't help conceding early on, but the reaction after that was first class.

"We've been thrown difficult obstacles this season and to lose a goal so early we could have shot ourselves in the foot, but the way we reacted, the fight, the willingness, it was first class."
