Arsene Wenger believes his Arsenal side produced a performance of real quality against Manchester United yesterday and were unfortunate to lose the match.

The Arsenal boss saw his team boss the early exchanges of the Premier League clash on home turf, but they could not make the breakthrough.

They then conceded twice, with a Kieran Gibbs own goal and a Wayne Rooney strike, before Olivier Giroud pulled one back in injury time.

Wenger feels his side produced a very good display and is frustrated they ended up losing the match.

"There was lots of energy", he told his club's site.

"We produced a game of quality and energy and in the end we didn’t get the reward. Manchester United had two shots on target and we lost the game – that’s what it was.

"All the rest was one of the most one-way traffic games I’ve seen against United. I feel so sorry for our fans and the energy level the players put in not to get a win today because it’s so disappointing."
