Former England captain Alan Shearer has blasted Manchester City's defence and warned of potential annihilation against Bayern Munich in midweek Champions League action.

The Citizens did grab victory yesterday, running out 2-1 winners over Swansea City at the Etihad Stadium after conceding an early goal.

But Shearer was not impressed with Manuel Pellegrini's men defensively, in what was just their second win in seven games.

And Shearer sent out a warning ahead of Tuesday's game against Bayern Munich.

"Going forward, there's no problem but defensively, I think they're a million miles off where they should be", he told the BBC.

"They're all over the place.

"If they defend like that against Bayern Munich in midweek, they'll be in big trouble", Shearer added.

Bayern Munich warmed up for the Champions League clash by thrashing Hoffenheim 4-0 at the Allianz Arena and sit top of the Bundesliga.
