Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to win the race for FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez, but need to offload Roberto Soldado to make way for the Colombian.

Martinez, who has been prolific in Portuguese football with Porto, has been linked with a number of clubs, most recently Liverpool.

However, another Premier League side with aspirations of a top four finish are also on his tail, in the shape of Tottenham.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants Martinez signed in January transfer window, but knows he will have to part with Soldado to make room for the Porto man.

And according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Spurs are looking for a side to ship out the former Valencia hitman to.

It remains to be seen whether Porto will be willing to sell Martinez in January, or indeed whether the striker would be prepared to jump ship mid-season.

And given any hint Porto might deal over Martinez, a number of other clubs would be expected to firm up their interest in the Colombia international.
