Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has insisted that his side are confident about booking their place in the knockout round of the Champions League by claiming a positive result against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

The Gunners, who blew a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Anderlecht in their last Champions League outing, are currently second in Group D with seven points from four games, five adrift of leaders BVB.

Arsene Wenger’s side need just a solitary point from their last two group stage fixtures to qualify to the Round of 16 of the continental competition.

And Szczesny, whose side lost 2-1 to Manchester United in the Premier League at the weekend, is certain about Arsenal reaching the next round of the Champions League by putting in a good performance against the German giants at the Emirates Stadium.

“We all know that our last match in the Champions League at home to Anderlecht was disappointing”, he told the club’s official site.

“But we must put that behind us and we’re all ready to bounce back against Dortmund and hopefully get a place in the last 16.

“We know that we only need one point from our last two matches to qualify for the last 16, but we know that we have not made it yet.

“We’re playing at home in front of our fans and we’re confident that we can put in a good performance and qualify.”

Arsenal lost 2-0 to Dortmund in the corresponding fixture at Signal Iduna Park in September.
