Tottenham Hotspur legend Paul Gascoigne has revealed that Arsenal and Arsene Wenger paid for some of his hospital treatment, forking out to the tune of £50,000.

Gascoigne was sectioned under the mental health act in October this year, but insists he is now a much better man.

The former England midfielder revealed he had to go into hospital recently and spoke to his friend Gary Lewin, who works as Arsenal's physio, to inform him he was not feeling well.

And both Arsenal and Wenger came through for the 47-year-old after Lewin advised him to get himself to hospital.

"I rang up physio Gary Lewin and told him I wasn't feeling great", Gascoigne explained to the Sun.
