Chelsea defender Gary Cahill wants his side to continue their fine start to the season, following their 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

First half goals from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge sealed the deal for the Blues, who consolidated first place in the Premier League with 32 points from 12 games.

However, with a heavy round of fixtures coming up until the festive period and the season being relatively young, Cahill has warned his side against complacency.

The England international insisted that Chelsea, who are yet to taste defeat in a competitive fixture this term, are determined to maintain their momentum in the upcoming testing period.

“We realise the fact we’re not even halfway through the season yet, we’re probably a third of the way through”, Cahill explained to his club’s official site.

“That’s what keeps the determination there to keep getting results.

“We’ve started really well. We’ve kept the momentum going and the good feeling of winning games.

“There’s a long way to go but we would rather be where we are now than where we were this time last season.

“Now we’ve got a huge amount of fixtures coming up. It’s a testing part of the season but one we’re ready for and one we’ve done many times before. We want to keep going in this vein.”

Chelsea will next face Schalke in a Champions League fixture on Tuesday before locking horns with Sunderland in the Premier League at the weekend.
