Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has hit back at Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, who cast doubt on whether Blues duo Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa were really injured over the international break.

Spain left Costa out of their squad for the recent international break after Mourinho went public in his anger at the striker returning injured from the last set of internationals.

Fabregas meanwhile played against Liverpool before the international break, as did Costa, but was sent home from the Spain squad after being declared injured.

Ramos, who played under Mourinho at Real Madrid, suggested the pair may have had pressure put on them to miss out on Spain duty, hinting Mourinho was the man to do it.

And Mourinho has not taken kindly to the words.

"Since I've known Sergio Ramos, he has always been a great footballer, but not a doctor", the Chelsea boss was quoted as saying by Maxifoot.

"He is no more a doctor than I am.

"I do not go against the opinion of my doctor and I don't think Sergio Ramos has passed a masters degree in medicine in recent years to have an opinion on it."
