Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta feels it was a “shame” that his side lost 2-1 to Manchester United on Saturday.
The Gunners put in a dominant first half display at the Emirates Stadium, but found themselves 1-0 down after the break, courtesy of a freakish own goal from Kieran Gibbs.
Wayne Rooney then doubled the Red Devils’ lead in the 85th minute, and although Olivier Giroud reduced the deficit in injury time, it was too little too late for Arsene Wenger’s side.
And Arteta, who believes Arsenal played their best game of the season at the weekend, is of the opinion that his side did not deserve to lose the contest.
"I am shocked we did not win this game, I cannot believe it still", he explained to the club’s official site.

"I think we played our best game of the season, in terms of what we demand from ourselves with the quality of our attack, how early we won the ball back, how consistent we were throughout the game, the number of chances we created, and all that considering the opposition we were playing against.
"I can't believe it and think it is a shame, not fair for the players and the fans. It is very frustrating.
"We were controlling the game and hammering them. Afterwards you have to take more risks, to chase the game.
“I feel so sorry for the lads and for the fans as well, because they were terrific and we don't deserve it."
Arsenal, who are currently eighth in the Premier League with 17 points from 12 games, will next take on Borussia Dortmund in a Champions League fixture on Wednesday.
