Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has hit out at what he sees as unfair treatment from the English press.

Balotelli has been dogged by controversy throughout his career and it has continued since he joined Liverpool from AC Milan in the summer.

The striker is currently injured, but attended a high-profile boxing match in Liverpool on Saturday, the day before the Reds took on Crystal Palace.

Balotelli feels he is receiving unfair press treatment and believes it will only continue.

"I know that if people like me or dislike me they will read what is written about me", he told beIN Sports.

"The press must sell newspapers and must tell funny or stupid stories.

"People do not want to read 'Mario is at home with his daughter'. They want to read 'Mario rammed his car', so they are lying."

Balotelli is still waiting to score his first Premier League goal for Liverpool.
