Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia wants to beat Manchester City to help his former club Roma in their quest to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

Manchester City must win their game against Bayern Munich tonight to keep their hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the competition alive.

Roma will also be looking to win all three points against CSKA Moscow in Russia and anything less than a win for the Citizens will hand the advantage to the Italians.

And that is exactly what Benatia intends to do tonight at the Etihad. The Bayern Munich defender wants to end Manchester City’s hopes of qualification and provide a boost for his former club’s chances.

“We are going to Manchester to win and get the maximum points in the group”, the defender told Sport 1.

“Beating the Citizens would also help Roma and I still have many friends at the Giallorossi.”

Bayern Munich have already qualified for the last 16 of the tournament and only the second position in Group E is up for grabs.
