Leeds United midfielder Lewis Cook feels that Blackburn Rovers striker Luke Varney dived to win a penalty for his side against the Whites on Saturday.

Cook, who is keen to put the incident behind Leeds, has defended full-back Sam Byram, who was judged to have brought Varney down in the box.

Jordan Rhodes stepped up to slot the ball home, handing Rovers a 2-1 win at Ewood Park.

"In my opinion it wasn't a penalty. It was a kind of a dive, but you can't really say much about it", Cook told LUTV.

"We've just got to get on with it now. You can't do anything about it so we've got to get on with it."

And the young midfielder does believe Leeds have left the disappointment of defeat at Ewood Park behind them.

Indeed, Cook wants to take the positives from a largely fine Whites performance.

"I think we've got over it quite quickly, which we need to do. Obviously the games come fast and we've been training well the last couple of days.

"I think we're doing the right things, we did the right things on Saturday, and we just need to finish games well in the last ten to twenty minutes, manage the game a bit more, then we'll get those wins."
