Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admits he has been left in awe of his "not normal" team after they crushed Schalke 5-0 in Germany in the Champions League this evening.

The Blues quickly took control at the Veltins Arena after John Terry scored in just the 2nd minute of the game.

Willian then doubled the visitors' advantage in the 29th minute, before a Jan Kirchoff own goal just before half-time sent the Blues in 3-0 up at the break.

A quickfire double in the 76th and 78th minutes, from Didier Drogba and Ramires respectively, put Chelsea 5-0 ahead and cruising.

In a sign of how comfortable Chelsea were, Mourinho was even able to take Diego Costa off just after the hour mark.

It finished 5-0 and Chelsea booked a last 16 spot as group winners.

Mourinho is delighted and feels what Chelsea have done is certainly not normal.

"They did a fantastic match. In this moment this team is very mature, very confident, obviously to win away 5-0 in the Champions League is not normal", he told Sky Sports.

"5-0 away in Germany is even less normal.

"The performance was very impressive."

The Portuguese feels his men are now playing some superb football.

"We are defending well because we are defending with eleven players and we are attacking well because we are very confident in ourselves and we put lots of players in the attacking process.

"We are a good team. Obviously we can lose, but the reality is the team is playing really well and we have big self belief."
