Norwich City defender Michael Turner is looking forward to working with the club's new first team coach Mike Phelan, admitting that he respects what the coach has achieved in the game.

Phelan worked as assistant manager to the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, coaching some of the best players in world football and tasting Premier League success with the Red Devils.

Now he has joined Neil Adams at Norwich and will bid to do his bit in turning around the Canaries' poor form, which has seen them pick up just six points from their last six Championship games.

And Turner believes Phelan, a former Norwich player, can make the difference.

"With what he’s achieved in terms of coaching and playing, he’s someone we will all look up to and listen to. It will be a new voice for us to learn from and hopefully he can improve us still", Turner told his club's site.

"I’m sure will put a perspective on things in terms of training and the methods he will come up with.

"I think everyone is looking forward to working with him."

Phelan will be in the Canaries' dugout for this Saturday's match against Reading at Carrow Road.
