Manchester United have loaned out young defender Reece James to Championship side Rotherham United.

James, who is heading away from Old Trafford in a bid to clock up regular playing time, will remain at the New York Stadium until 10th January.

The left-back was a prominent figure in Manchester United's pre-season tour of the United States and scored twice as the Red Devils won the International Champions Cup.

The 21-year-old continued to nudge into the first team picture when the season began and was on the bench for the club's opening three Premier League games.

But Louis van Gaal has opted to allow James to head out on loan to bolster his experience.

Going out on loan is not a new experience for James, who has a prior spell with Carlisle United under his belt.

James made his senior Manchester United debut earlier this season, against MK Dons in the League Cup.
