Leeds United have started trimming their squad by offloading Nicky Ajose on loan.

Ajose has linked up with League One strugglers Crewe Alexandra on a loan deal until 5th January and will be aiming for playing time at Gresty Road.

The forward only arrived at Elland Road in the summer, signed from Peterborough United by former boss David Hockaday.

However, Ajose has struggled for playing time at Elland Road since making his debut in Leeds' season opener against Millwall.

Leeds announced: "United forward Nicky Ajose has joined Crewe Alexandra on an emergency loan deal until January 5, the club can now confirm."

Ajose, who was at the Alex's training ground and trained with his new team-mates today, joins a side where scoring goals has been an issue and Crewe boss Steve Davis will hope the 23-year-old can provide the solution.
