Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that midfielder Sami Khedira will miss his team's Champions League fixture against Basel tonight with hip discomfort.

The 27-year-old, who was on the bench for the match against Eibar this weekend, missed training the day after the match due to his injury, according to the manager.

"He was unable to travel because he had discomfort in his hip before the match against Eibar and the day after the game he wasn't able to train", Ancelotti said at a press conference.

He also clarified the absence of Portuguese defender Pepe, who he revealed was left back at Valdebebas to rest and recover.

"As with Pepe, we preferred to leave him at Valdebebas to recover and be ready for the next game."

The Italian manager further took time to add that midfielder Asier Illarramendi has recovered full fitness and will be available for selection for the match against Basel tonight.

"He has had an injury and now he is fine. He's going to play because he's available, although I don't know how many minutes he can play.

"He can help us, and what's important is that he is fine and is ready to play."

The defending champions visit Switzerland tonight as they look to maintain their perfect start to the 2014/15 Champions League campaign.
