AC Milan defender Cristian Zapata has stressed that Fernando Torres is more of a team player than Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli switched to Liverpool from AC Milan this summer, but has so far struggled to adjust to life at Anfield.

With only two goals so far this season, the Italian has been widely criticised for his lethargic performances in the Liverpool shirt and Brendan Rodgers has also come under fire for persisting with the striker.

Torres, who joined AC Milan from Chelsea this summer on a two-year loan deal, has scored just once in the league this season, but Zapata believes the Spaniard is making much more of an impact than Balotelli.

The AC Milan defender stressed that the former Liverpool striker is much more of a team player than Balotelli and the Rossoneri are better without the mercurial Italian forward.

“Mario was always a bit on his own.

"We are working well without him."
