Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn has defended goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, amid another howler from the Italian last weekend.

Silvestri, who was involved in a defensive mix-up against Cardiff which cost Leeds a goal, produced another such moment last Saturday, to help Blackburn Rovers on their way to a 2-1 win against the Whites.

Silvestri though retains the backing of Redfearn, who believes he has won Leeds more points than he has lost between the sticks this term.

"The number of points where he's won us games this season far outweighs the ones where he's cost us", Redfearn told a press conference.

"He has trained well this week, he looks good. He is a top class young goalkeeper."

Redfearn is now looking for Silvestri and Leeds to bounce back at the weekend when they host Derby County at Elland Road.

And the Whites boss believes Steve McClaren's men will not quite know what to expect.

"We're an unknown quantity for teams.

"We're playing well.

"We like to play at home, you can see that."
