Hull City defender Alex Bruce believes that Manchester United are going through a transitional phase under new manager Louis van Gaal and need to be given more time to prove themselves.

As the Tigers prepare to visit Old Trafford this weekend, Bruce took time to talk about his team's opponents, insisting that Van Gaal is determined to leave his mark on the Red Devils.

Speaking about the Manchester-based club's recent transfer activities, Bruce added that the Dutch manager has brought in a lot of quality players and might think of adding one or two more in order to further improve his team.

And with the Dutch manager's pedigree, the 30-year-old believes that Van Gaal will soon be able to turn around fortunes at Manchester United.

"It’s still early days but he’s brought in a lot of players", Bruce told Manchester United's official site.

"He’ll probably tell you he might want to bring in one or two more.

"It’s a transitional period and he wants to have his own stamp on things so you have got to always give the manager time.

"He’s got a good pedigree and has done well at every club he has been at before. I don’t see any reason why he won’t do well at United."
