Ronald Koeman has blasted Tottenham Hotspur for appointing Southampton’s former talent scout Paul Mitchell as their head of recruitment.

Tottenham have taken former Saints talent hunter Mitchell to White Hart Lane and made him head of the team that actively scouts players for the club across the globe.

Mauricio Pochettino left the south coast club to join Spurs earlier this summer and the north London side were also keen to sign Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton.

Mitchell’s move to north London has annoyed the Saints manager and Koeman has hit out at Tottenham’s policy of regularly being at the club’s door for players and support staff.

"Maybe Spurs felt they couldn't buy our football players so they had to bring in other people", Koeman quipped to the BBC.
