Neil Redfearn believes that Nicky Ajose was not suited to the style of football he wants to play at Leeds United.

The Yorkshire giants offloaded Ajose to League One strugglers Crewe Alexandra on loan yesterday, the forward heading to Gresty Road until early January.

Ajose was signed by former Leeds boss David Hockaday in the summer, but Redfearn feels he is ill suited to the direction in which he is now taking the Whites.

And the Leeds boss suggested that Ajose has little future at Elland Road, even when the loan is complete.

"I think that the type of players that we've got, or the majority, lend towards a certain way of playing and a certain system. And he was in the minority", he told the BBC.

"And I think that was no disrespect to Nicky, but I think he found it tough. I think he found being out of the picture tough. But his attitude was good.

"Good luck to him. He goes on and pursues his career elsewhere", the Leeds manager added.

Crewe will hope Ajose can quickly find his goalscoring boots at Gresty Road, with the Alex having struggled to hit the back of the net on a consistent basis.
