Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling feels his side are still in a “good position” to qualify to the Round of 16 of the Champions League, despite their 2-2 draw with Ludogorets last night.

The Reds were stunned at the Stadion Vasil Levski when Dani Abalo gave the home side a third minute lead.

But Liverpool equalised just five minutes later through Rickie Lambert, before Jordan Henderson made it 2-1 for the Premier League outfit in the 37th minute.

However, just when it looked like the Merseyside giants were going to bag the full three points, a late Georgi Terziev goal shared the spoils for the Bulgarian club.

The result left Liverpool in third spot in Group B with four points from five games, and Brendan Rodgers side need to beat FC Basel, who lost 1-0 to Real Madrid in the group’s other game last night, in their final group stage game next month to progress in the Champions League.

And Sterling, who was disappointed after his side failed to win in Bulgaria, is still confident about Liverpool booking their place in the next round of the competition.

“It was a very intense game with two good teams”, he explained to UEFA’s official site.

“It's really hard to play here against Ludogorets. I think we have to be disappointed we didn't take all three points but we find ourselves in a situation where we can decide our fate.

“We want to qualify for the next round and I think we're still in a good position.”
