Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has insisted that winning a trophy is not a sprint but a marathon and everyone needs to contribute in order to improve the team.

The Gunners ensured Champions League last 16 qualification with a 2-0 win over German outfit Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.

While the win was pleasing for Arsenal, Flamini believes that his team cannot think too much about it as the tournament has a long way to go yet and they need to be at the top of their game every time before coming anywhere close to winning a trophy.

“The championship is not a sprint, it is a marathon and with so many games we will definitely need everyone and we saw that here", Flamini told his club's official site.

Flamini also took time to praise his team's defensive display during the match, adding that his side are always strong on the attacking front.

"The team was solid defensively and with the quality we have, we will always find a way to score goals.

"It is very important because we have worked hard since the beginning of the season and we lost some games we were not supposed to, so this was very good for our confidence."
