Manchester United youngster Reece James has lavished praise on team-mate Ben Pearson, explaining the midfielder has a never-say-die attitude.

James, who recently linked up with Championship side Rotherham United on loan, has turned out alongside Pearson on a regular basis for Manchester United Under-21s.

And the defender cannot help but be impressed by the Oldham-born midfielder's dedication to his craft.

Asked who is the most competitive player in training in Manchester United's training talk series, James replied: "Ben Pearson. He is just like a dog. He never stops."

However, James does not believe that Pearson has taken the greatest strides with his game this term, giving that accolade to Josh Harrop.

Of Harrop, James said: "There has been a massive improvement from him.

"He gets on the ball and sometimes you stand back and think: 'How has he done that?' He’s always working hard outside on the pitch and has got really good feet.

"I just think he’s improved massively and the call-up for the England Under-20 squad shows how well he has done this season."
