Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes there are a number of people within football who expect him to lose his job.

Despite spending more than £100m on new players in the summer, Liverpool have struggled this term and have lost six of their 12 Premier League matches so far.




The spotlight has been shone on Rodgers, with a number of pundits speculating he may soon be sacked if matters do not improve for the Reds.

 


"They obviously expect me to lose my job", Rodgers told a press conference, when asked about the criticism.

"It's football.

"A few months ago I was manager of the year, now I'm favourite to get the sack.

"It's part and parcel of working in football, with very short-termism.

"All you can do is focus on the job and what you can control."

But Rodgers himself admits he does not follow what is written and said in terms of criticism.

"I read very little of what was said."
