Louis van Gaal admits his minimum expectation for Manchester United this season is that they finish fourth in the Premier League.

A top three finish had been talked about at Old Trafford before the season, but with a campaign which has so far been disrupted by injury, Van Gaal will be happy if his side finish in fourth.

Fourth spot would mean the Red Devils needing to progress through the playoff round to reach the group stage of the Champions League.

Speaking about their current league spot of fourth, Van Gaal told a press conference: "I’m happy but we have to be at least fourth at the end of the league.

"Now is not so important.

"We have to improve our playing style and we have to beat more easily our opponents."

Van Gaal will be aiming for Manchester United to do just that when they lock horns with Hull City this weekend.

Following a run of matches against Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal, the Dutchman will want the Red Devils to now head on a winning run against arguably easier opponents.
