Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero is not aware of the reasons for his exclusion from the Delhi Dynamos first eleven for their last three Indian Super League fixtures.

The 40-year-old decided to join the ISL franchise before the start of the first season of the tournament and is the club’s marquee player.

Despite a difficult start to the campaign for both Del Piero and the franchise, the Italian was a regular in the team for the first nine league games.

But he has so far failed to score or create a goal for the team this season and has been dropped to the bench for the last three league fixtures.

And Del Piero’s absence from the team has coincided with an upturn in Delhi’s form and now they are just a point off the playoff positions in the league table.

The Italian stressed that he is committed towards helping his team reach the playoffs, but said that the reasons for his absence from the first eleven are only known to Delhi Dynamos coach Harm van Veldhoven.

“I want the team to qualify for the playoffs because I want to spend more time with the fans”, Del Piero was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

“As for my absence from the team, the reasons are only known to the coach.”
