Liverpool are paying close attention to CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia are are actively considering a bid for the Ivory Coast international next month.

The Reds have struggled to rediscover their potent goalscoring form from last season in the current campaign, with Luis Suarez sold in the summer to Barcelona and Daniel Sturridge suffering repeated injury issues.

Summer striking signings Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have failed to provide the same threat in attack for Brendan Rodgers' men.

Liverpool are not sitting on their hands however and according to Russia daily Izvestia have already booked their scouts a trip to see Doumbia at CSKA Moscow's final Champions League group game, against Bayern Munich.
