Napoli are eyeing a January deal for Arsenal and Manchester United defensive target Ron Vlaar, who is currently plying his trade at Aston Villa.

The Dutchman’s contract with Villa is set to expire at the end of the season and currently there are no signs that he will sign a new deal at Villa Park.




Vlaar’s performance for the Netherlands in the World Cup made him a hot properly this summer and Lazio and Juventus were keen on a move for him.

A deal never materialised and Vlaar chose to remain with Paul Lambert’s side. But the 29-year-old is attracting interest from both Arsenal and Manchester United, who are in the market for an experienced defender in January.
 


But the English duo are not his only suitors as Napoli are closely tracking developments at Villa Park and are ready to make a move for him in January.

And according to southern Italian daily Il Mattino, Rafael Benitez’s team will contact Vlaar’s representatives in the next few days to discuss a transfer.

It remains to be seen whether Vlaar chooses to remain in England or at 29, decides to taste Italian football with Napoli.
