Manchester United are prepared to battle Valencia for the signature of Benfica star Enzo Perez next month.

Los Che are keen to capture the 28-year-old and have been tracking him for some time. However, they look poised to have to do battle with Louis van Gaal's Red Devils for his signature.

Indeed, according to Spanish daily Super Deporte, Valencia are fearful of Manchester United pushing to sign Perez, knowing competing with the English club's financial power will be difficult.

The 28-year-old midfielder landed at Benfica in 2011 from Estudiantes, but spent six months back on loan at his former club in 2012.

Perez has grown to be key man under Jorge Jesus at the Estadio da Luz and helped Benfica to the Portuguese title, Portuguese Cup and Portuguese League Cup last term.
