Fulham striker Ross McCormack admits that he was not expecting a cordial welcome from the Leeds United fans on Saturday.

Hugo Rodallega scored the only goal of the Championship match as Fulham beat McCormack’s former team 1-0 at Elland Road this weekend.

McCormack was the captain for the day against Leeds and admits that after the way he left the club this summer he knew that he was going to get some stick from the home fans.

The Scot scored 29 goals for the Whites last season, but left for the Cottagers at the end of the term in acrimonious circumstances.

The 28-year-old added that he tried to treat the game as normally as he could and also applauded the Elland Road crowd at the end of the game.

“I knew it was going to be quite weird because the way I left the club wasn’t the best, I didn’t have a chance to say bye or thanks for the support and what have you”, the forward told his club’s site.

“Some of the [Leeds] fans had their say, that’s fine, I’ll take that on the chin. At the end I walked round the stadium, applauded them, and that’s it, it’s done.

“What I tried to do was just make it like any other game, although I know that wasn’t really possible.

“I always thought that I’d love to come back and score because I know the stadium and it’s pretty familiar.”
