Besiktas striker Demba Ba believes his side have been handed an important advantage against Liverpool in their last 32 Europa League tie by playing the second leg at home.

The first leg will take place at Anfield, the imposing ground that Liverpool so often used to their advantage in the second leg of two-legged European ties.

For Ba, who joined Besiktas in the summer from Chelsea, not having to go to Anfield for the vital second leg will be an advantage.

"If we can snatch a good result in the first leg, it will be an advantage to be playing the second leg at home", he told UEFA.

The striker also acknowledged that at present Liverpool are not in the best shape. However, he still believes the Reds will present a stern test.

"It's a difficult pairing. Liverpool are having some hard times now.

"They couldn't get the results they desired and things are not going well for them. Hard games are ahead of us.

"They are a team which try to strike fast and build up the game as quickly as possible."
