Roma CEO Mauro Baldissoni has reacted angrily to constant rumours linking Kevin Strootman with a move to Manchester United.

Strootman recently returned to action for Roma from a cruciate ligament injury that he sustained in the first half of this year.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is a huge admirer of the Dutch midfielder and would have tried to sign him in the summer if Strootman had not been injured.

But the former Dutch national team manager is keeping a close eye on Strootman’s progress and is believed to be ready to make another move for the 24-year-old next month or next summer.

Some have already claimed that a deal is all but done and Strootman will definitely join Manchester United at the end of the season.

And speculation like this has irked the Roma hierarchy. Baldissoni said that the constant rumours of Strootman joining Manchester United have been a source of frustration for the club.

“Our president [James Pallotta] gets angry on a daily basis over reports in England that there are offers for Strootman.

"He has already stated that the Dutchman is not for sale”, Baldissoni told Radio Uno.

“He is still very young and has a very long contract with us.

"It is on players like him that we want to build our future.”
