West Ham representatives are expected to arrive in Portugal in the coming days to meet their Sporting Lisbon counterparts.

On the table for discussion is Islam Slimani, the Algerian striker that the Hammers are hoping to snap up in next month's transfer window.

West Ham were linked with Slimani, who enjoyed an impressive World Cup, over the summer, along with Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Trabzonspor.

However, as the transfer window slammed shut, the 26-year-old was still in Portugal and on Spoting Lisbon's books.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, West Ham officials will soon be in Portugal to attempt to thrash out a deal for Slimani.

Sporting Lisbon are thought to want around the €10m mark for a player who has scored eight goals in 15 appearances so far this season.
