Celtic boss Ronny Deila insists that their Europa League round of 32 opponents Inter Milan are the "biggest name and biggest club" they could face in a competition.

The Bhoys face the prospect of a re-match of the 1967 European Cup final which they won 2-1. The two sides in fact last met back in 1972 in the European Cup semi-final, and the Europa League round of 32 tie, scheduled to take place next year, will be their first meeting since then.

The two-legged tie will be played at Celtic Park on 19th February and at the San Siro on 26th February.

"Two big teams will be coming together and hopefully there will be a full stadium at Celtic Park that can push the team forward", Deila said at a press conference.

“I know of course about 1967 so it’s a historical moment as well."

Deila also took time to speak about his Inter Milan counterpart insisting that with the kind of reputation Roberto Mancini has, he will improve the team quickly.

"They are a very good team. They have brought Mancini in and they will improve like hopefully we are at the moment.

"Italian football is very tactical and they are very good at defending and you can see that in Mancini’s teams."

Deila's team are currently placed at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and hold a six-point advantage over second placed Inverness after 16 matches.
