Manchester City have jumped into the race for Galatasaray schemer Wesley Sneijder, but are likely to face competition from Manchester United and Southampton for the Dutchman.

Sneijder, who has endured a turbulent season at Galatasaray, is edging towards the exit door at the Turk Telekom Arena and it appears he may be available for a nominal fee due to the Super Lig side's financial issues.

Manchester United and Southampton have already been linked with Sneijder, but now Manchester City are also on the scene.

According to Voetbal International, Sneijder's agent Guido Albers has held talks with Manchester City over his client.

Manchester City are thought to view Sneijder as a potential replacement for Frank Lampard, who is on loan from New York City FC.

It remains to be seen where Sneijder will end up, but the Netherlands international now appears all but certain to leave Galatasaray next month.
